Google Pixel 2 is one of the best flagship smartphones but not perfect.

Google Pixel 2

Google released Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL and have become hype these days. Everyone is talking about its cool features and what this phone is capable of. Today I am going to give you a brief about its best features and also some problems.

Best features on Google Pixel 2 & Google Pixel 2 XL

Well, Google Pixel 2 is loaded with amazing features I have highlighted best features that I love.

Camera & Portrait Mode

Google is really focusing on AI as Sundar Pichai CEO of Google tell in an interview and we can see its flavor in almost every new product Google is making now. It took advantage of AI and mixed it with the camera to give crispy and beautiful pictures that everyone loves it.

It’s touted as the best phone for mobile photography.

Its a 12.2-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, HDR+,4k video recording and Portrait mode. It has the highest DxO rating of 98 which is pretty impressive.

Portrait Mode

These days portrait mode has become the must-have feature in the flagship mobiles. So Google has also added but it has done it uniquely. Google pixel has only one rear camera which is able to detect depth in field and with the help of machine learning it gives a beautiful background blurred photos. The plus point for Pixel 2 is that portrait mode is also available for front facing the camera so you can expose your self in social media with some crispy photos.

if you want to check how portrait mode works see HOW PORTRAIT MODE WORK.

Always on display

We have seen always on display in other smartphones like recent Samsung phones But again google added some spice to make better than others and that is “now playing”.

Now Playing

Now playing is introduced in Google Pixel 2 in which your phone is always listening to the audio and whenever it hears the music it matches with its database to recognize it and display. This happens without even touching the phone. You can see the details and do some actions to it by taping on it.

3.Google lens

Google released Google Lens during Google I/O 2017 and now it is exclusive to google pixel 2. It is designed for bringing up relevant information based on what your camera sees. it’s not perfect at this time but we are expecting it get better with time.

Major issue

And therein lies the major problem with the feature: If the intent is to have Google Lens identify objects you see in the real world, it’s a hassle to take a photo, then have to open up the Google Photos app to find Lens. I was fooled — and I suspect many others were as well — into thinking Lens worked in in real time.

Front Facing Speakers

For me, it is the best feature. It enhances the user experience unlike other smartphones when the audio become damp while playing game or movie because of speaker get covered with your finger. The speakers sound really good and worth it.

Squeezable Sides

As we know HTC and Google are very close and Google has also bought HTCs workforce for $1.1 billion. So some of HTC’s own smartphone features are making their way to Google’s Pixel line.

Now, a similar version of HTC’s Edge Sense has arrived to the Pixel line. It’s called Active Edge, and it allows you to squeeze the sides of the Pixel phone to quickly launch the Google Assistant.

Some other great features…

It is water resistant now with ip67 rating

Google has finally made his flagship phone water and dust resistant.

The pixel launcher has been redesigned

Google has totally redesigned pixel launcher with a new look. Now there is “pill” like search bar at the bottom which is easy to access. It will take some time to get used to but user experience has been enhanced

There’s also a new “at a glance” section at the top of the launcher that gives you quick access to your weather and upcoming events

Problems with the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel  2 XL

Google Pixel 2 is currently one of the best smartphones in the world but it is not perfect and these are the problems with Google Pixel 2.

No headphone jack

Yes, Google has removed headphone just like Apple did.

Apple killed headphone jack and Google buried it

It was one of the gossipy tidbits that no one needed to accept, yet lamentably, it’s turned into a reality. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL don’t include a 3.5 mm earphone jack, which implies you’ll have to depend on your USB Type-C port for wired earphones. That additionally implies you can’t charge your phone and plug in with wired earphones in the meantime. Boo.

LG and Samsung managed to squeeze a headphone jack in their devices, so why can’t Google?

No wireless charging

Recently Apple introduced wireless charging in iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Samsung already have wireless charging in their smartphones for a while but unfortunately google pixel don’t support wireless charging. I don’t know why Google did that but we hope that it will.

No expandable storage

There is no place to put sd card this means you won’t be able to expand storage. google is trying to push its user to use cloud storage. But still, expandable storage is a good thing and most of the people want it.

Weird bezels

In 2017 bezels are dying as we can see in Samsung phones and recently in Apple iPhone X. Actually, it has become a necessary thing for a flagship smartphone but in google Pixel 2 the weird bezel ruins the look of it. Many people are talking about this and I personally thinks that in the next Pixel Google should manage to remove them.
